Counseling Programs and Services support Citrus
College's mission to help students realize their
full potential. Our primary objective is to
provide opportunities for students to clarify
their values and goals so they can make informed
decisions about their educational,
career/transfer and life pursuits. We are
dedicated to cultivating future leaders by
providing encouragement and support towards our
students achieving their goals.
The Counseling and Advisement Center aids the
college mission by providing quality instruction
and counseling to help students understand the
educational process and empower students to
compete globally. The program is dedicated to
fostering a diverse educational community and
supporting students to develop educational plans
that support student success.
This full-time tenure track counselor position
reports to the Dean of Counseling Programs and
Services. The assignment 175 contract days
between the period of July 1 and June 30. The
schedule may consist of day and/or evening work.
This position is contingent upon funding and
final Board approval.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
--Provides comprehensive academic, career,
transfer, and personal counseling services to the
general student population. Develops curriculum,
instructs student development courses (including
learning communities) and workshops. Maintains
professional and ethical academic standards.
--Engages in other professional duties including
division, department area and committee work,
curriculum development, and liaison with
instruction and other programs on campus.
Participates actively in staff development and
professional growth programs.
--Meets obligation with regard to scheduled
appointments, required office hours, and other
duties in accordance with prevailing policy.
--Undertakes other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to communicate effectively, in English,
with a diverse population both orally and in
